Overview
Les bons lecteurs utilisent les mots de l’auteur et leurs propres expériences pour se créer des images mentales pendant leur lecture. En établissant les liens avec des informations antérieures, les lecteurs peuvent approfondir leur compréhension.

Instructional Strategies
Creating a picture in your mind that shifts and changes as you read is important to helping you understand what you are reading. Encourage students to all of their senses as they read. Think “What do I see? Hear? Feel? Taste? Smell?”
Encourage students to read slowly enough to be able to hear the voice of the author or of the characters. The goal is to be immersed in the world of the story by not only picturing but also hearing what you read.
Encourage students to pause after reading a paragraph or short section. Have them ask the question “What am I picturing?” and/or have them draw a quick sketch. At the end of the text, ask them to review their sketches and ask themselves, “What is the author trying to say?”
