Investigation of the effect of distance on the pressure in a pipe

Pressure plays a crucial role in the transporting of water in sanitary systems in a town. In our research, we would like to investigate how pressure drops in a piping system. Through our approach, we used a water tower connected to a horizontal water pipe and we measured the water pressure along the pipe. Our research shows that although we hypothesise that the pressure drop should be linear, it turned out to have a significant drop in pressure throughout. Understanding this research provides us with very useful information on pressure drop and this knowledge also provides the town designer with an insight on how they should build a water distribution system.
