ย ย ย ย ย ย In recent years, with the popularization of Internet entertainment, the popularity of some pet bloggers and animal protection bloggers has gradually reversed peopleโs negative attitudes towards animals. The public is gradually realizing the loveliness of animals and is more willing to keep pets. They are also aware of the troubles of stray animals and starting to take action to help them, such as adopting them.ย
ย ย ย ย ย At the same time, the idea of โโcreating a society where people and animals live in harmony has also been popular. Some pet-friendly and animal-friendly companies have also emerged one after another, showing the potential growth of these companies. The public tends to purchase pet supplies for their pets or help stray animals.

ย ย ย ย ย Compared with some Western countries, mainland China and Hong Kong have a less friendly attitude towards stray animals and pets. Some Chinese people hate stray animals and pets and avoid them because of stereotypes such as animals being dirty and carrying bacteria.ย
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Although the Chinese government has enacted โThe Law of the Peopleโs Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlifeโ to protect endangered wildlife, there are no laws related to protection, abandonment, or abuse of domestic animals. Due to the lack of legal constraints and corresponding penalties, some pet owners who lack a sense of responsibility might abandon pets without any burden. This has led to a very large number of stray animals in China. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of stray animals has increased sharply. According to statistics, there were 53 million stray cats and 40 million stray dogs (Guan & Han, 2022). The main reason might be due to some false reports that pets could be infected with the COVID-19 virus. People were worried pets would spread diseases, so they chose to release them directly. In addition, due to the negative impact of the epidemic, both the political and economic environments have become unstable. Rich people moved abroad to avoid potential risks. However, their pets were left in China because it is difficult to handle the procedures for going abroad, and faced the end of wandering.
ย ย ย ย ย Unsterilized stray animals mate and reproduce at will, which further increases the number of stray animals. In order to quickly solve these problems, some government departments have even captured stray animals on a large scale and then killed them uniformly. They have regarded humans as the masters of the earth and forgotten that the earth is also the home of other living beings.

We would like to find a pet-related enterprise that aims to improve animalsโ welfare and examine its social impact, as well as how it addresses the stray animal issues in Hong Kong or mainland China.
๐งFrustrations:ย
There are very few pet-friendly stores that promote harmonious interactions between people and pets. In our mind, a pet-friendly store not only sells pet supplies but also holds charity events and donates money to support services such as vaccinations for stray animals.
๐Problems:ย
Pet-friendly stores have higher operating costs than other traditional pet stores, mainly because of the heavy investment of resources in maintaining daily operations, they also need money to participate in charitable activities. Many stores cannot afford these additional expenses.
โค๏ธSolutions:ย
First, we watched some of the introductory videos on YouTube to know more about the pet-friendly stores. Second, we visited the pet-friendly stores in Shenzhen and Hong Kong and conducted a SWOT analysis of pet-friendly stores. Then we took some unique photos that represented the store. Besides, we had a brief interview with the staff and customers. We also made some promotional posters and posts for the shop on Instagram. Our channel name is Cuddle Creatures. Finally, expand the visibility of the shop and promote the realization of harmonious coexistence between humans and animals through the above promotion and publicity methods.
๐ฐCustomers:
City dwellers who own pets, especially the younger generation, seek a pet-friendly lifestyle. They want to enjoy shopping, socializing, and entertainment experiences with family and friends together with their pets.
Consumers who are interested in pet culture or want to adopt a pet, and have a certain purchasing power, but do not yet own a pet.
๐ฌAppeal:ย
To attract target customers, we post promotional videos and program posters for Hi Paw Lab by operating social media accounts. Open forums and comment sections to attract customers to provide ideas and feedback through sweepstakes or other forms of interaction. Broaden communication channels (e.g., messages, phone calls, and emails) to provide personalized support and service to customers.
