Advice for future AP Research students preparing for their presentation:
I would recommend taking any opportunity to present in front of others you can. Doing this allows you to get feedback but also feel more comfortable presenting in front of others.
Take the time to write out a script of what you want to say and the order. You do not have to read this word for word when you present but, it helps to give a good outline that you can use. After you make the script, make very brief notecards to use as a lifeline in case you forget where you are.
Start working on your slideshow and script as soon as possible so you have a lot of time with your presentation and materials so you are prepared when it gets closer to your date.

My Next Steps:
To move forward after my presentation, I will work on my final paper and prepare for the coming research symposium. In order to do this, I will be finding better ways to take my words and make them into visuals and graphs (this will be done to help cut down on the small word count). For the research symposium, I will be taking my presentation and cutting out a lot while finding what it most important to mention in order to allow for individuals to see what my research is all about.
How I want my research to impact this field:
I would love for this research to spark more interest in surgeons' (and other medical professionals') mental health. This is a very prevalent topic, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic and there is little research on this. Hopefully, my research will bring this issue to light and hopefully jumpstart some more research to be done.
There is a large gap in research on malpractice and job satisfaction. I am hoping that my research will help bring this gap to light and hopefully create a clear need for research on malpractice. This research will also help to urge more research on job satisfaction as well, also looking at the job satisfaction not just of surgeons but also medical professionals in general.
One thing I learned from my research is that the number of malpractice cases is increasing, which, is clearly impacting the mental health and job satisfaction of surgeons. Hopefully, my research will bring to light greater facts of how malpractice is exponentially increasing.
