One of the biggest differences between primary and secondary school is the number of staff you will get to know. At Rye Hills there are over 100 members of staff. You won’t be expected to know them all, but we thought it would be helpful to start to get to know some faces!

In primary school you probably had a key member of staff such as your class teacher or a teaching assistant who you could go to if you needed support. At Rye Hills we have over 900 children in school and we divide you all between three ‘colleges’ – a bit like the houses in Harry Potter!

Each year group has a Year Manager. This member of staff is non-teaching and will be available to support during the school day.

Mrs Sands is the Year 7 Director of Learning and teaches History. Mrs Sands will be monitoring your progress in lessons and your attitude to learning. Your older brothers and sisters may know her as the previous Head of Newton College.

Mrs Smyth is a non teaching member of staff. She is the Year Manager for Year 7 and will be supporting your year group as you move through school. Alongside your Form Tutor, she will be someone you are able to speak to if you have any concerns. She is really looking forward to meeting you all in September.
