Washington School second-grade students from Mrs. Fesken, Mrs. DeRosa and Ms. Parikh’s classes collaborated to demonstrate leadership inspired by the values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Rutherford High School’s Bilingual Bridge Club went pumpkin picking at Heaven Hill Farm in Vernon, New Jersey. Our ESL students spent the day picking pumpkins, going on a hay ride, exploring the hay maze, and spending time with the farm animals. Students demonstrated the Profile of a Rutherford Graduate competencies of collaboration and citizenship while experiencing NJ's fall culture.
Discovery students continue carrying on the tradition of the Lincoln School’s community garden through this fall rooted in responsibility, teamwork, and community pride. Last year’s third-grade Discovery students, now at Pierrepont, originally planned and planted the garden, learning the importance of giving back. They harvested vegetables and herbs, celebrating the fresh produce they grew in a fresh salad at the end of the year.
Now, this fall, the current Discovery students took on the responsibility of maintaining the garden, demonstrating strong citizenship skills by caring for a shared school space that benefits the school community. Students worked collaboratively to showcase the giant sunflowers that flourished over the summer, as well as tasting delicious grape tomatoes off the ripened vines. Through their teamwork, respect for nature, and commitment to the school environment, students represented what it means to be active and caring citizens.
