Level 1 French students will accomplish varying degrees of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. With each additional year, student proficiency in the language will continue to grow. Students will not only study French vocabulary and grammar, but they will also be introduced to general aspects of French culture (geography, ethnicity, recreation, & philosophies).
The goals for the students are:
- to communicate in French
- to understand themselves as individuals shaped by a particular language and culture
- to function in another culture
- to be sensitive to cultural differences in general
