Good attendance is essential to your success in French. Each day, a new concept is taught and/or a review takes place. Missing a class creates gaps in your learning, and consequently, hinders progress. Also, your overall grade is lowered when you are not in class to participate in oral and written practice since both are part of your class participation grade. You must come to class every day!
Each student is expected to make an effort to interact orally in French on a daily basis. The students will be given participation points for oral and written responses, questions, comments, and attempts at communication in French. Participation also includes being seated and ready to work before the tardy bell rings.
1. Homework will be given Monday-Thursday and, if necessary, on Friday.
2. The standard assignment is to study 20 minutes a night in addition to completing any written assignment given.
3. Work must be done in blue or black ink, or dark pencil only. (My advice: Pencil makes it easier to fix your mistakes.)
4. Incomplete work will not be accepted.
5. It is the student’s responsibility to see me to make arrangements to make up tests/quizzes. Students have one week from the date of the absence to make up any test or quiz. Students are allowed to retake a quiz or a test, but must first attend tutoring before being able to retake it.
6. To earn full classwork/participation credit, students must:
A) Be present
B) Actively participate in class activities/discussions
C) Complete the required work
D) Display behaviors that are conducive towards learning and enhancing the classroom experience, at all times.
7. Students will utilize PowerSchool Learning/Haiku and Google Docs. Beginning the second week of September, most classwork and homework assignments will be posted on PSL.
A wide variety of projects will enable students to use the vocabulary, structure, and culture discovered in class. Students will explore topics independently and then share new information and ideas with the class.
