The Racine Unified School District Special Education Department has put together resources just for you. The Special Education Family Resource Site has a variety of resources and information related to special
education, specific disability areas and community resources.
It is our goal to provide you information and resources to better support both you and your student through our department. The resources, information, and laws are continually changing in special education so you will find the information here updates as well. If there is a topic you would like more information or resources on please go to the Feedback / Need More? page to submit your request.

24-25 Parental Notice for Medicaid Billing
Dear parents/guardians of ,
This is the notification of your rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regarding Medicaid billing. IDEA allows certain services provided under an IEP to be covered by Medicaid. The Wisconsin Medicaid schoolbased services benefit is a way for school districts to receive additional federal revenue. These services include attendant care services, nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language services, specialized medical transportation, psychological services, counseling, social work services, and developmental testing and assessment.

We must tell you about all these rights even though some things may not relate to your child at this time. If you have any questions about your rights, call your child's school. Special Education law requires that the school district give this to you once per year or upon your request. If you file a due process complaint, you will receive another copy.

Increased time for collaboration between teachers and parents.
Small group intervention directly related to classroom standards, grade-level expectations, and academic achievement.
Promotes multidisciplinary collaboration, co-teaching and differentiated instruction

Just a friendly reminder that the district will be moving forward with all special education documents being available in the Parent Portal beginning tomorrow on August 15, 2023.
These documents include:

All evaluation documents
All Individual Education Plan (IEP) documents

What if I don't have a Parent Portal account or am having issues with my account?
Contact the main office of the school your child attends, enrollment center, or any Family Resource Center. They will be able to get you an access code to assist with creating your account or troubleshoot any issues.
Where do I find the documents in the Parent Portal?
Once you have logged into your account, on the left side is a documents section. There you will need to select the special education section. Then you will see a list of the documents. Click any document to view it. Please also see our How To Reference Guide for additional assistance in accessing the documents.
What if I still need a paper copy?
Paper copies are still available upon request. The first copy of a document will be at the cost of the district. Any additional copies may be at a cost to the individual requesting. Contact the special education department at (262) 631-7151 to request a paper copy.

Due to this, the district will be moving forward with all special education documents being available in the Parent Portal starting August 15, 2023.
These documents include:

All Progress Reports
What if I don't have a Parent Portal account or am having issues with my account?
