Manufacturing Pathway

About Introduction to Fabrication:

Prerequisite: None. Students study methods of tools, materials, and processes of metal which comprise manufacturing as an industry. The use of metal working tools and machines are emphasized. This class includes both manual and CNC machine tools. The student will learn programming and operations on the CNC lathe and mill. Sheet metal, casting and welding are also introduced. A shop fee is required. (Lab/Material fee required.)

About Blue Print Reading / Gauging & Quality Control:

Prerequisite: Intro to Fabrication. Students will build skills to read and interpret information found on production prints. Rectangular coordinate and inch/metric systems will allow students to perform math calculations to obtain necessary dimensions and tolerances shown by symbols, notes, and various views. Students will study general shop safety for a machining environment, raising awareness of hazards around them, and other safety topics. Students will have the opportunity to earn high demand industry certifications.

About CNC Machining Technology:

Prerequisite: level two courses for Fabrication and CNC-Machining Pathway. Students witll be introduced to Computer-Numeric-Control (CNC) machining processes and technologies that supports it. Students will program and operate CNC machines to drill, ream, tap, counter-bore, and counter-sink while defining and calculating speed and feed rates, identifying screw threads, and sharpening tools. Students will use both manual and CNC equipment to practice and develop their skills. Students will have the opportunity to earn high demand industry certifications.
