The Experimental Philosophy Lab (X-Phi Lab) Groningen is a collaborative structure for students and scholars at the University of Groningen, who are engaged in research projects in the field of Experimental Philosophy or on related topic.
The research focus of the Experimental Philosophy Lab lies on interdisciplinary research on topics related to folk meta-ethics, personal identity, the (true) self, ethical decision-making, happiness, meaning in life, and the good life. The Lab Group is particularly interested in exploring the ways in which people's intuitions and beliefs influence their philosophical judgments. They aim to use experimental methods to develop a more empirically grounded understanding of the ways in which people reason and make judgments about philosophical issues.
The members of the Lab Group members have the opportunity to attend regular Lab Group meetings. during which they can discuss their research projects with each other, present their research, exchange ideas and feedback, and learn more about each other’s projects. This can help students and scholars to further develop their studies, based on the insights of others who are also involved in Experimental Philosophy research.
By organizing and coordinating a professional network of researchers working on Experimental Philosophy research, the X-Phi Lab Group offers possibilities for cooperation between researchers from different fields and disciplines.
