**This section is almost all from RUF Wake Forest Campus Minister John Bourgeois**
The job of the RUF intern is to apprentice to the RUF Campus Minister. The goal of the internship is for the intern to learn how they do ministry and grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord and his Gospel. They do this by implementing the RUF Philosophy of Ministry (POM) in their own lives and in the lives of students.
What does an Intern do?
RUF Interns do what students do not have the time/what students cannot do.
The ministry of RUF is to students through students, not to students through interns.
Our goal is not to have a big enough staff so that we can finally meet all the needs present on campus - our goal is for the interns to assist the Campus Minister in equipping the students to do ministry
Internship Purpose
To love Jesus and live out his love for them
To love their local church
To love their campus minister and his family
To lean into their sanctification - to be themselves and repent of being themselves… at the same time
To discern and develop their ministry gifts
To start to learn how to create the sort of campus ministry that they would want to be a part of
If you could distill the work of the intern into one word, it would be apprenticeship. The RUF intern apprentices to the CM. S/he is not staff, nor is s/he on the Ministry Team. Rather, the unique role of the intern is to learn how to do ministry alongside of the CM and staff, aiming at freshmen and fringe students.
As the CM works the stages of group development (see below), the intern learns to do this on their own, working stages 1-3 with students they gather, connect into small groups, and then connect together into the large group.
