Discuss with your supervisor – confirm that your project requires laboratory work.
Check feasibility – ensure that the required reagents, equipment, and expertise are available in the lab.
Confirm with laboratory technicians – they will verify the availability of resources and the safety requirements.
Get approval from the Lab In-Charge – after confirmation, your supervisor must formally request and book the lab space through the proper channel.
Only after approval and material confirmation, your laboratory work can begin.
Yes, the laboratory supports research projects based on the following conditions:
✔️ Required reagents, chemicals, equipment, and lab technicians must be available.
✔️ Technician time and lab schedules must allow the work.
✔️ If your project is externally funded, the funding agency should support the cost of reagents, chemicals, and any additional equipment if needed.
Once these conditions are met, the laboratory is happy to support your research.

Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
However, please note:
If a practical class is ongoing, visitors must wait or schedule another time.
For assignments or practical work, students should first speak to their module tutor/supervisor, who will then notify the lab technicians officially (in writing to SSU).
Walk-ins are welcome, but prior communication is highly appreciated.
Yes, external agencies, institutes, and organizations may use the lab facilities if:
The laboratory has the required expertise and equipment to support the work.
A service fee and the cost of reagents/chemicals will be charged.

We welcome collaborations and external testing projects, provided all safety and procedural guidelines are followed.
All practical class bookings must be done through your module tutor/supervisor, who will officially contact the lab technicians and confirm the schedule. Booking requests should be done in advance to avoid timetable clashes.

No food or drinks are allowed inside the laboratory.
