Te Mātaiaho is value rich and demonstrates what the value looks like in each discipline. The incorporation of mātauranga Māori in all learning areas supports the development of values that give effect to Te Tiriti and its principles and are inclusive

Through the learning areas, ākonga are encouraged to value:

• excellence, by aiming high and by perserving in the face of difficulties 

• innovation, inquiry, and curiousity, by thinking critically, creatively, and reflectively

• diversity, as found in our different cultures, languages, and heritages

• equity, through fairness and social justice

• community and participation for the common good

• ecological sustainability, which includes care for the environment

• integrity, which involves being honest, responsible, and accountable acting ethically 

• respect for themselves, others, and human rights
