As 6th-grade students enter middle school they are learning how to juggle multiple subjects, complete assignments, and manage their time with extracurricular activities which can quickly become overwhelming.
As a result, FMS 6th-grade students undergo a six-week science, technology, and social studies rotation (ONLY science, technology, and social studies - math and ela schedules will remain constant.). This rotation schedule helps to support a more manageable workload to produce a successful experience in their first year as middle schoolers.
Students are only enrolled in two of these content areas for 6-weeks. After 6-weeks, students rotate to one new content area while continuing to maintain one other content area. The rotation schedule for the 6-week change happens throughout the year and will eventually become more predictable.
PowerSchool grades will reflect these two content areas during these 6-week periods.
