In 2019, RSU 12 and RSU 40 joined forces to regionalize their program under the name "Midcoast Adult & Community Education." This name caused confusion with our Mid-Coast School of Technology-Adult Education partner and the Midcoast Hub 7 Adult Education group we are a part of. The name changed in 2025 to Medomak-Sheepscot Regional Adult & Community Education.
You may also know our program from their historic names prior to regionalizing: RSU 12/Somerville Adult Education, MSAD 40/Waldoboro Adult Education.
We collect birthdates for reporting purposes. As an educational institution, we are asked to provide data on the age groups we serve, the communities we reach, and overall participation numbers. Your birthdate helps us present an accurate picture of our program's impact.
No. We serve people from all over the state of Maine, any resident of Maine can register for our Academic or Enrichment courses.
No, you don’t have to start over. Any official HiSET® tests you’ve already completed will count toward your educational program with us.
Please note: If you previously took the GED®, those scores will not transfer, as the State of Maine only offers the HiSET®.
We deliver copies to local businesses in RSU 40 and RSU 12. Our brochure is mailed to Alna, Chelsea, Friendship, Palermo, Union, Waldoboro, Washington, Warren, Westport Island, Whitefield, and Windsor residents. You're always welcome to stop by our office and pick up a copy in person as well. We do not mail copies outside of this region even if they are requested.
Medomak-Sheepscot Regional Adult & Community Education and Boothbay-Wiscasset Regional Adult Education are separate programs, each with its own director. While we previously shared a director, that is no longer the case.
For questions related to Boothbay or Wiscasset, please contact Raye Leonard at rleonard@aos98schools.org
