MARSHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

Program of Studies

2024-2025

Marshwood High School's 2024-2025 Program of Studies is written to assist you, the student, to plan your course of studies. We encourage you to begin a series of conversations with your parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and peers about your future aspirations and the course work required to meet your goals.

Dear Marshwood High School Students, Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 edition of the Marshwood High School Program of Studies. To provide the necessary context for academic planning and appropriate scheduling, we borrow from our Marshwood High School Core Values.

The goal of Marshwood High School is to create a supportive and challenging educational environment. Our community encourages academic success, affirms the unique potential of each student and inspires all to be responsible, socially aware citizens.

We are genuinely invested in our core values. Our commitment to the core values prepares students to be college, career and life ready. Marshwood High School’s Program of Studies guides students, parents, guardians and advisors in developing an academic plan that meets the student’s needs and satisfies all requirements for graduation.  Each course offered at Marshwood High School is listed in the Program of Studies. Please read the course description and the course prerequisites prior to selecting a class. Some courses are student choice and some core classes are determined on teacher recommendations.

Our planning process starts at the end of the eighth grade with a four-year plan designed around the student’s post-secondary goals. The plan may be modified each year to align with the student’s evolving post-secondary goals.  Therefore, it is essential when using the guide to fully understand the requirements for graduation and the student’s post-secondary goals. The Program of Studies provides examples of four-year learning plans to meet post-secondary goals for attending college or technical college, enlisting in the military or going directly into the workforce.

Please do not hesitate to confer with your student’s teachers, advisor and school counselor if you have any questions.

Take Care,

Brett Hoogterp
