Prospective graduate students must apply via WECAN. Applications are linked on the left-hand side of this page. All applicants must complete the standard application and submit a WECAN standard application, resume, cover letter, current transcript, Google survey indicating their district and grade-level preferences, two letters of recommendation and a recommendation form that is signed by the department chair or representative from their university. Applications for the 25-26 school year will be open November 1, 2024-January, 2025. Interviews will be held in January, 2025 with offers of employment given by February, 2025.
Graduate students who are hired through the grant as school counselor interns serve as one year employees of the district/school. Interns become lifelong members of the Wisconsin Well Be's School-Based Mental Health Consortium in a hope that they will move on to strengthen school-based mental health networks across the state and nation. They receive extra mentorship and coaching from a counselor supervisor, grant manager, and district staff. Interns are compensated with a package of about $65,000 for their work during the school year. Specific contractual details are included below:
$31 per hour, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
200 day contract
Spring observation days, summer training/work days, school calendar days
Comprehensive benefits: health and dental insurance, WRS, life insurance, long-term disability, FICA
$248 taxable housing/childcare stipend for up to 38 weeks
Up to $9,586 per year, per intern (paid 2X per year) tuition reimbursement
