As Rockwood teachers work to continue to teach virtual and in-person learners concurrently, this page is designed to provide "just in time" asynchronous learning to help teachers meet the challenges of "concurrent learning" in order to provide high quality instruction for At School and At Home learners simultaneously in an efficient way that honors valuable teacher time.

National Standards for Quality Online Teaching are outlined by NSQ and overlap with tenets of quality in-person instruction. Standards include:
Utilize discipline-specific technology tools
Learner-centered instructional strategies
Maintaining classroom community and relationships
Collaboration between students to promote higher-order thinking skills
Meeting the needs of all unique learners and providing additional support as needed
Assessing student progress
Frequent communication with parents regarding progress and supporting student engagement
Teachers can save valuable time by creating the same routines for At Home and School learners in these categories.
K-12 teachers can work with Instructional Technology Specialists to help with technology setup for "concurrent learning." Some common arrangements include:
"Extend screen" on teacher device to monitor or SmartBoard to see Zoom students. Share screen via Zoom so At Home and At School students see the screen with teaching tools.
Document cameras can be viewed on Zoom and in-person simultaneously. To check out a document camera from curriculum, contact Kathleen Whitaker.
Some teachers utilize a separate device for Zoom students. This allows At School students to easily collaborate with At Home students by relocating the second device. Contact your building CSS to request an additional device.

K-12 teachers can always contact their Instructional Technology Specialists.
Self-paced learning shared at the beginning of the school year was designed to help teachers achieve the National Standards for Quality Online Teaching. This learning continues to be relevant in the new environment.
