Music engraving is the act of writing music down on a staff. We're going to practice our "Music Handwriting" by copying some music down to a blank sheet of paper.
Step 1: Grab a sheet of paper and a pencil.
Step 2: Draw Three 5 Line Staffs on your paper (you may want to use a ruler).
Step 3: Divide each line into 4 measures.
Step 4: Draw the clef at the beginning of each line.
Step 5: Draw the note heads in so they match the line and space number of May Song exactly.
Step 6: Add the rhythm by copying the stems, beams, and dots.
Step 7: Add the extras! Copy the dynamics (mf, p), bowings (down & up), and other symbols you see!
Step 8: Double check you have everything.
Step 9: Play May Song by reading your handwritten version!
Note: The music below is the violin copy. If you have your book, please copy your version instead.
This week's activity includes a 4 page packet that teaches you a new song called Allegro.
Allegro means to play at a fast tempo. It is also the Italian word for "cheerful"!
