Course Description: This semester-long course is an introduction to psychology, which is the scientific study of behavior and thought. The semester begins with an exploration of social psychology – how we humans think about, influence, and relate to one another. The remainder of the semester includes the following topics: professions in psychology, psychological experiments and other research methods, the brain and nervous system, the endocrine system, sleep and dreams, drugs and consciousness, psychological disorders and treatment, childhood and adolescent development, types of learning, and memory.
