Star of the Week and Show and Tell have been combined, each week we will have a Star Student! Refer to the descriptions below:
Star Student
I'm sure your child has been asking his or herself "Who ARE these people sitting around me?" Well, now's their chance to find out! Our "Star Student" board will provide your child a whole week of encouraging the class to learn more about them as they display various pictures. This allows your child the chance to verbally describe known and preferred topics (themselves!), facilitate conversation with their peers, and to exhibit pride in themselves and their background. We will send home a packet a week in advance containing pieces of paper to post your images on. See you (on the wall) soon!
Show and Tell
It's time to show off! As Part of the Star Student experience each student will have the opportunity to bring in a favorite item from home to share with their friends in front of the class on the Thursday their Star Student Week. This is an excellent opportunity to facilitate communication with their peers and teachers, not to mention a chance to share their favorite goodies! Feel free to send in a short note describing the item so that we can assist them with their presentation if needed. Now let's start showin' and tellin'!
Star Student Weekly Schedule
Monday- Send in the completed star student packet- We hang it up for friends to see. You will receive the packet the week before.
Tuesday- Your child gets to share their Star Student Pages in front of the class and a favorite snack.
Wednesday- We play your child's favorite song during snack so they can jam out with their friends.
Thursday- Please send a favorite toy to school with your child to show and share with their friends.
Each week a new Star Student is picked out of a raffle! I will send home the Star Student Packet the week before so that you will have a full week to complete it with your child. Below is a sample that I made for families to reference and I will share with the kids during the first week or second week of school as we get to know each other.
