Star of the Week

In order to establish a stronger classroom community and get to know each other, we will conduct a yearlong “Star of the Week” project.  Throughout their designated week, students will share information about themselves.  necessary items will be sent home a week prior to your child’s week and should to be sent on the Monday of your child’s week. Below is the schedule of events.  

Monday: The student will share a completed Star of the Week poster (provided by the teacher) as well as 5-8 family photos.  Classmates will also have time to “interview” the Star of the Week.

Tuesday:  Mystery item to share – The Star of the Week will give clues to have classmates guess the item.

Wednesday: Class Book Creation - Students will create a class book for the Star of the Week.  There is nothing the Star of the Week needs to prepare for this day.

Thursday: Favorite song/ Movement Video.  We will have a dance party to the Star of the Week’s favorite (school appropriate) song.  Please write this song on the back of the Star of the Week poster or email me on Monday so I can preview the song. J

Friday: Guest Reader – A family member may come in to share a read aloud between 9:15 – 9:30 on the Friday of your child’s scheduled week (the day listed on schedule on second page).  The Star of the Week and teacher will pick a book together and a book will be sent home earlier in the week.  Please email the teacher with who will be coming in to read so I can place their name on the volunteer sign-in sheet.  Guest Readers will need a photo ID to sign in and receive a badge at the front office. 

For organizational purposes please have these items ready and shared with the teacher on MONDAY of your child’s designated week:

Show and tell item in bag with 3 clues (bag and index cards provided)

School appropriate song
