Title I Reading Group

Goldwood Primary School receives Title I funds in order to provide reading intervention and support to students who qualify.  Within reading group, students will be working within either the Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), Double Dose Fundations or Heggerty curriculum.  I have included a short description of each program below.  For additional information you can go to the Goldwood Title I webpage.

Double Dose Fundations

Double Dose is the phonics intervention program within our Fundations curriculum.   Within the reading group, students will work to develop their foundational literacy skills and receive repeated practice and support with letter-keyword-sound, alphabetic order, and letter-formation skills.   For more information about Fundations in Kindergarten you can go to the Fundations website.

Heggerty

LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention)

Leveled Literacy Intervention, or LLI, is a literacy intervention designed to help teachers provide powerful, small-group instruction through systematically designed lessons and original, engaging leveled books.  LLI is a combination of phonics/ word study, reading and writing with a focus on developing comprehension skills.  The goal of LLI is to bring students to grade level achievement in reading.  For more information you can access the link below.  http://www.heinemann.com/fountasandpinnell/lli_Overview.aspx

Students working within LLI will bring home a reading pouch, including a book and reading log each night.  Take turns reading/ re-reading books with your child and sign the green reading log each Monday through Thursday evening. The book, pouch and log should accompany your child each day.  Books will not be sent home on Friday. This is a very important component of the reading program, and I truly appreciate your involvement with this home-school connection!  Please let me know if you have any questions.
