ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
PRESCHOOL DISABILITIES PROGRAM
THE PRESCHOOL DISABILITIES PROGRAM PROVIDES OUR PRESCHOOL AGED STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH A DISABILITY EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT IN THE FIVE DOMAINS OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT: SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL, FINE AND GROSS MOTOR, COMMUNICATION, COGNITIVE, AND ADAPTIVE.
THE PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 3 AND 5.
THE PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN THE SELF-CONTAINED OR INCLUSION SETTING, BASED ON EACH CHILD'S INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
RESOURCE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
RESOURCE CLASSES ARE OFFERED FOR READING, WRITING, AND MATH FOR GRADES 1-6.
SINGLE-SUBJECT RESOURCE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED OUTSIDE THE GENERAL EDUCATION CLASS.
THE CLASS IS TAUGHT BY A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER.
IN A PULL-OUT REPLACEMENT RESOURCE PROGRAM, THE GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM IS FOLLOWED AND THE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES MAY BE MODIFIED BASED ON THE STUDENTS' IEPS.
CLASS SIZE SHALL NOT EXCEED 6 STUDENTS UNLESS THERE IS A TEACHER ASSISTANT, IN WHICH CASE THE CLASS WILL NOT EXCEED 9 STUDENTS
LANGUAGE AND LEARNING DISABILITIES PROGRAM
THE LANGUAGE AND LEARNING DISABILTIES (LLD) PROGRAM MEETS THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DIFFERENCES OR SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES.

THIS SPECIALIZED PROGRAM PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH INTENSIVE INTERVENTIONS IN THE AREAS OF PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS, MATH, AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TO SUPPORT RECEPTIVE, EXPRESSIVE AND WRITTEN LANGUAGE SKILLS.
STUDENTS ARE GIVEN A SUPPORTIVE YET CHALLENGING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE ACADEMIC SUCCESS.
EACH CLASS HAS A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND AT LEAST ONE TEACHER ASSISTANT, AND CLASSES ARE TAUGHT PRIMARILY USING SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION.
MULTIPLE DISABILITIES PROGRAM
THE MULTIPLE DISABILITIES PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS GRADES K-6 IN A SELF-CONTAINED CLASSROOM THAT EMPHASIZES THE BALANCE OF A CHALLENGING CURRICULUM WITH APPROPRIATE SUPPORT AND SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION.
THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT IS DEVELOPED TO MAXIMIZE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR INCLUSION INTO THE GENERAL EDUCATION SETTING TO PROVIDE LEARNING WITH THEIR PEERS.
AUTISM SPECTRUM PROGRAM
THE AUTISM SPECTRUM PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS GRADES K-6.
THIS SELF-CONTAINED PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE ACADEMIC NEEDS CONSISTENT WITH THE AUTISM SPECTRUM.
THIS CLASS PROVIDES OUR STUDENTS WITH SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION IN A STRUCTURED YET NURTURING ENVIRONMENT.
WE IMBED THE ABA APPROACH TO LEARNING TO PROVIDE OUR STUDETNS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO MASTER SKILLS WITH THE GOAL OF GENERALIZATION OF SKILLS.
STRONG ORGANIZATION AND WORK HABITS AND BASIC SKILLS ARE INFUSED INTO THE DAILY SCHEDULE TO PROVIDE A SOLID LEARNING FOUNDATION.
THE BEHAVIORIST WORKS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHER ASSISTANTS IN THIS SETTING.
MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL
IN-CLASS-SUPPORT/INCLUSION CLASSES
IN CLASS SUPPORT CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN GRADES 7 THROUGH 12 AND ARE PROVIDED IN THE GENERAL EDUCATION SETTING BY TWO TEACHERS: A GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER.
STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM AND MUST MEET THE NJSLS.
THE GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHER HAS THE PRIMARY ISNTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY, AS THIS TEACHER IS CERTIFIED IN THE SUBJECT AREA.
THE STUDENT HAS ACCESS TO BOTH TEACHERS, AND THE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER MAY PROVIDE ACCOMMODATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS AS STATED IN THE STUDENT'S IEP
BOTH CLASSROOM TEACHERS ARE THERE TO ASSIST ALL OF THE STUDENTS IN THE CLASS.

EXTENSION PROGRAM- Middle School Autism Spectrum Disorder Classroom
The Extension Program applies Applied Behavior Analysis Principles, providing evidence-backed educational services for children with autism and related developmental disorders for grades 7 through 9.
We concentrate on imparting a range of skills to middle schoolers, including academic, language, social, play, leisure, life and vocational skills.
Our dedicated teachers collaborate with the district's certified behavior analysts to ensure our students receive top-quality instruction.
THE SCARLET STUDIO (MD PROGRAM)
THE SCARLET STUDIO PROGRAM IS AN MD PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH VARIED ACADEMIC, VOCATIONAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS.
IT IS A FUNCTIONAL LIFE-SKILLS PROGRAM DEVELOPED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL WITHIN A PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING.
THIS SELF-CONTAINED PROGRAM COMBINES COMMUNITY BASED INSTRUCTION, VOCATIONAL SKILLS AND STRUCTURED LEARNING EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES ALONG WITH DAILY LIFE-SKILLS AND ACADEMICS, TO CREATE A PROGRESSIVE AND NURTURING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
ACADEMICS, WHICH ARE BASED ON THE STATE CURRICULUM STANDARDS, ARE INFUSED WITH FUNCTIONAL LIFE SKILLS TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF STUDENTS AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
OUR STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT THROUGH SMALL GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION. STUDENTS ALSO EXPERIENCE COMMUNITY BASED INSTRUCTION THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY AND OTHER LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATION ARE INTRICATE KEYS TO THIS PROGRAM'S SUCCESS.

SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT CLASSES
STRUCTURE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS A PULL-OUT RESOURCE SUPPLEMENTAL READING CLASS, TAUGHT BY A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS ENCOUNTERING SIGNIFICANT READING AND WRITING DIFFICULTIES. STUDENT DATA IS USED TO PLACE STUDENTS IN THIS CLASS. THIS CLASS INCORPORATES METHODOLOGY FOR TEACHING WRITTEN LANGUAGE THAT TEACHES LANGUAGE STRUCTURE. INSTRUCTION IS BASED ON THE ORTON-GILLINGHAM APPROACH USING THE SONDAYS INTERVENTION METHOD.
STUDY SKILLS IS A PULL-OUT RESOURCE SUPPORTIVE CLASS THAT REPLACES AN ELECTIVE OFFERED TO STUDENTS IN GRADES 7-12. THE CLASS IS TAUGHT BY A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND PROVIDES THE STUDENTS WITH INSTRUCTION IN STUDY AND LEARNING SKILLS STRATEGIES FOR TEST-TAKING, TIME MANAGEMENT, ORGANIZATION, AND RESEARCH PROJECTS. THE STUDENTS ARE ASSISTED WITH MONITORING THEIR INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS AND PROGRESS. THE STUDY SKILLS TEACHER ALSO MONITORS THE STUDENTS' PROGRESS BY COMMUNICATING WEEKLY WITH THE GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHERS. TRANSITION ACTIVITIES ARE IMMERSED IN THIS CLASS FOR GRADES 9-12.
