"45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
Fear results anxiety stress and despair. It hinders us to be productive emotionally; physically, it weakens our immune system; and spiritually, it doubts our faith in God.
"As a believer of God, God wants us to strengthen our faith"
Have you ever doubted God's love?
If doubt and fear knocks the door of your heart remember these:
I. Remember whom you belong. (v.36)
"The most terrible tragedy happen to a man is when you forget your God"
Fear hinders our trust in God, it is used by Satan for us to forget God. So, let's remember who we are in Christ and who is Christ.
WHO ARE YOU IN CHRIST? 2 Peter 2:9
You are a chosen race
A royal priesthood
A holy nation
People for God
Justified
New Creation
II. Depend on God's Deliverance. (vv. 17:32-37)
"The safest place for your life is in the hands of the living God"
Israelites saw how big Goliath was, but David saw how big our God is.
When you depend on yourself, you are preparing for self destruction and defeat.
III. Surrender your Fears to God.
" The best thing in life is having God in you."
Therefore,
" You do not need to be afraid of the enemy because God has already won the victory in the cross of Calvary"
"20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”[a]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
