Welcome to the E.S.S.R.E. 2026 website! Over the course of three weeks, 14 interns tested and analyzed a variety of sites in the Roland Park Country School Backwoods environment. After, interns trialed and created procedures for new research methods that will be used in future years. Finally, they developed and tested hypotheses regarding the overall health of the RPCS Backwoods. Below is the 2026 site data and overview of the many projects!
H.I.G.H. Group Research paper - Carolina Razon-Fernadez, Emma Provan, Oona Jordan, Nicole Lin
This group studied the negative impacts of human infrastructure on soil pH, CO2, and Compaction, sound and Plant biodiversity levels.
The Terravationers Group Research Paper - Sophie Moss, Londynn Harper, Daisy Bamiduro
This group studied the effects of elevation on soil health and microbial density.
Construction Group Research Paper - Emily O'Toole, Lina Colantuoni, Mahdiya Adeyemi
This group studied the impact of various man-made structures on overall soil health.
The Periwinkle Patrol Group Research Paper - Caroline Ford, Charlotte Hardcastle, and Macey Novak
This group studied the negative effects of the invasive periwinkle species and suggested it be replaced with native Virginia Creeper
