Advisory

Students have been exploring Habit #4, Think Win-Win, for the past few weeks in Advisory. They discussed various outcomes from a situation (win-win, win-lose, lose-win, lose-lose, etc.), and came up with examples of each type of situation. Then they read part of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens book, and did a thumb-wrestling activity to further explore how to bring Win-Win Thinking into their everyday lives.

Our Advisory Program provides every student with a faculty advisor who serves as the primary point of contact for academic, social and emotional issues.

During the second week of school, all Middle Schoolers will give their top three choices for a faculty advisor. Advisory groups will have their first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 7.

To support each student's growth in these areas, advisors work with students through The Leader in Me program. Based off of the "Seven Habits" series by Stephen Covey, The Leader in Me teaches students leadership and life skills. All divisions of the school use concepts from The Leader in Me. Therefore, you will see quotes and images all around the school as we begin to develop confident and competent Leaders within our community. You can find additional information by visiting theleaderinme.org.

Throughout the school year, advisors will also spend time discussing Roycemore School's Core Values with students:

Scholarship • Integrity • Community • Respect • Compassion
