A key component of The Middle School Experience is the powerful relationship forged between teacher and student, as well as among students. Our teachers are experts in understanding the unique intellectual, social, personal and physical needs of young adolescents. They meet students where they are to provide educational experiences that support them. College prep academics are balanced with opportunities for social growth. Focused on critical thinking and creativity, our core Middle School curriculum emphasizes how to study, explore, research, and write well. Core subjects taught include: math, science, humanities, Spanish, French, art, music, technology and physical education/wellness.
On this page, you will see pictures and descriptions that share some of the academic part of the Middle School Experience. Be sure to also follow our teachers on their websites and on social media. Please visit our Links page to be connected with those sites.
Eighth grade science students isolated live bacteria from natural sources and cultured them in the lab. Once the bacteria grew in a test tube, they learned to plate the organisms. They also learned how to do a gram stained slide of their specimen. In some cases identification was possible by looking at the culture and the slide and making an educated guess.
Students gave presentations of The Giver diorama in class. They did an outstanding job not only in the creation of the scene from the book but also in their description of what was going on AND WHY is was important and relevant to the book. A job well done for sure!
