Hi everyone! First and foremost I want to start by introducing myself, I am Beatriz or Betty- the new secretary here at Alvarado! A little about myself- I come from a totally different background in the line of work! I have my B.S. in Architecture and have been working in architecture firms for the past 9 years! Having said that, I am super excited to be here at Alvarado THE BEST SCHOOL in the world! With the new school year approaching what I am most excited for is getting to see the school in full swing with students every day and teachers on campus! I am excited to get to meet everyone and see the campus in action! Cannot wait to see what this upcoming school year has to bring!

Obviously, this past year has been like no other. My students have been so amazing in the way they have persevered and have navigated through the world of COVID in the classroom, despite so many personal setbacks and challenges that many have faced at home. One of the most special highlights of the year has been reading my students’ responses to the questions posed to them in the “Celebration of Learning” document. To hear them express in their own words, the myriad of things they have learned through my lessons and the pride they have in their accomplishments is the best reward a teacher can receive from her students. I am so very proud of each and every one of them, and have been blessed to have been their English teacher this year.
I cannot convey how my students have demonstrated our values and beliefs as well as they, themselves, have communicated that. In their own words, here are just a few examples of what they said on their reflection forms.

To my students; former . . . who continue to bless me each and every time they let me know how they are doing, what successes they are experiencing, thanking me for what I taught them, and what goals they have for their future; future . . . I will look forward to meeting each and every student who will cross the threshold of my classroom door and who will brighten my life with their eagerness to learn, their enthusiastic and fun personalities, and all of the wonderful things we will do together to make this world a better place; finally, to my current students . . . Even though I could not be with you in person, I feel as though I know each and every one of you so well. You have shared your ups and downs with me, and together we have helped one another through this very difficult year. You always have exemplified each of our HONOR values and there is no question in my mind that all of you will be able to meet any challenge that comes before you in the future. I love each and every one of you, and I will miss you dearly. Please keep in touch every now and then; I know I will hear great things about you all!
