So, we had to do a project about the Roman and Byzantine Empire project, and I chose a slides storybook.
The goal of this project was to show what I learned about the Roman and Byzantine Empire through a story. I learned more about how it was like in the Roman and Byzantine time periods and also learned better time management.
The goal was to create a video presenting our project on the Roman or Byzantine civilizations. I chose to do a Google Slides story about the Roman’s architectural advancements and achievements. The slideshow includes information and pictures on the Roman Empire, along with a story about what a day in ancient Rome could’ve been like. The video also includes a reflection on the project process. I had to learn a lot about the Roman Empire. Facts about the Roman Empire’s road network, architectural style, and capital were necessary for me to complete the slideshow. A lot of the project was centered on Roman architecture, including how they used arches, vaults, and domes in many of their creations.
The goal of the assignment was to write a story of Rome’s achievements and provide images on the slides. Another goal of the project was to write modern day comparisons sharing the influence of Rome’s achievements and the lasting legacy. I had to cover multiple Roman topics such as Roman engineering or art and architecture. An additional goal was to have a minimum of 40 images, 13 slides, and 12 paragraphs.
I learned along the way that it’s important to take my time to make sure that I do a project correctly and thoroughly so I could get a good grade.
I discovered about myself to never give up through this assignment. Sometimes I felt like giving up because I felt like I had so many topics about the Roman’s to cover. However, I kept pushing myself to keep going and finish the project, and I eventually finished writing, designing, finding pictures, doing research about the Romans to finish my project, and writing my paragraphs.
I discovered that I have a good attention span as a learner while completing the assignment. Whenever there was a distraction, I pushed myself not to get distracted so I could focus and finish the project. By having a good attention span and not getting distracted, I was able to complete the project thoroughly and in a timely manner.
I learned that my history teacher was understanding and helpful through the process of completing the project. My history teacher was understanding that there were a lot of slides on the project, and a lot to complete on the project, so she gave us sufficient time to complete it.
Our school’s beliefs of HONOR connected with my project by telling me to never give up and keep going to finish the assignment.
Our school’s core values of HONOR connected with my project by telling me to never give up to complete the project and using ownership to remember to complete the project before the due date.
I struggled with giving up while completing the assignment. By using the HONOR value of never giving up, I told myself to keep going and finish the project. I was able to finish my project before the due date, and I was really happy with the finished project.
I have grown with not procrastinating on assignments, priortizing which homework assignments I had to do first, having better time management while working on homework, not getting distracted while doing homework, and better at studying throughout this past year.
The HONOR value never give up best represents my experience this past year. Sometimes I couldn’t get into a Zoom meeting because of my wifi, or I kept getting kicked out because of my wifi, but I kept trying and I was able to get into my Zoom meeting. Another way I used to never give up was when I kept going to make sure I completed and did all of my assignments before the due date.
The purpose of the assignment was to compile everything you learned into one creative way, which is what I did, presenting what I learned in the form of a museum pitch.
I learned about the history and facts of the places I was writing about.
My goal for this project was to add details only and main facts. I didn't want to bore my reader with huge sentences that aren’t giving any facts/detail. As my reader is reading along I wanted to make sure they felt and understood the feelings of the writer. As I was working on this project I learned more and more facts about the Maya civilization everyday. Doing this kept me kinda like up to date on what happened back then.
My goal was to get 100% on the assignment (collage on the Aztecs and Mayans). I learned along the way to not procrastinate so that I could have enough time to finish my assignment. I also learned that drawing pictures took a lot of time, so it was good that our teacher had us plan what we would be doing each day.
I discovered that I’m not a great artist and that I should probably never choose collage as my project option ever again. As a learner, I discovered that drawing pictures of the information makes it a lot easier to remember and it really helped me on the test.
I learned that she was extremely kind and helpful, as I gave her a lot of questions to answer and she was able to answer them efficiently in a timely manner.
Our school’s shared belief that everyone needs a teacher connected with my work because Mrs. Toran needed help since she wasn’t sure what was wrong with the flip grid and I tried my best to help her (being her “teacher” while she was my teacher).
HONOR, our school’s core values connected with my work because I used Never Give Up to keep on going through this time-consuming, somewhat difficult project.
I struggled with managing my time because drawing took a lot longer than expected. I overcame this challenge by using breaks, mornings, and free time in class to complete the project.
I am now a slightly better artist and have learned a LOT of history, almost the entire textbook.
I think Ownership best represented my experience this past year because I used it to try my best on every assignment, turn them all in before the due date, and take responsibility by asking questions when needed instead of being shy.
This was a project for the unit American Civilizations. It is like a “back to the future journal” that takes place in Maya and Inca civilizations..
My goal was to write a story that talked about how life was living with the Maya and Inca. I learned a lot about Machu Picchu and how different people’s lives were back then.
Part 1: The goal was to create a video showcasing our learnings and work on certain Mesoamerican civilizations. I wrote two poems, one on the Inca and the other on the Mayans.
Part 2: I read my poems and did a reflection on the project process in the video. I learned a lot about the Inca and Mayans during our studies on the Mesoamericans. For example, the Inca used terraces to grow crops on their mountain land. I learned about the two civilizations’ achievements, religion, agriculture, and more.
