Welcome back to school everyone!!  Hope all of you are doing well.  We are so excited for the start of this year and to meet your children. They are an amazing group. We are honored to be able to teach them.

This year we are welcoming a new teacher to our team. Mr.  Jahir Bautista-Sanchez comes to us from Columbia with a wealth of experience. We are excited to welcome him to the United States and to Voigt. Mrs. Misage, Mr. Halsell, and Mrs. Scott all return from last year. Mrs. Misage and Mr. Halsell will be on a short medical leave, but we look forward to their return.

Currently, in math, students are learning about order of operations. It's like a secret code for math! Ask them to show you how it works. In science, we are studying and comparing physical properties of matter. Your kids have been busy scientists, investigating mass, magnetism, relative density, and which materials conduct or insulate electricity. There were some surprises. Do you think aluminum foil conducts electricity or not? Ask your child, they will know!

In reading, we are working on reading with attention to the text and thinking deeply about it. Please help your child to love reading by having them read at home.

How can you partner with us in your child's education? First of all, be sure to let us know any needs or concerns you have. Also, remember that school start earlier this year. Students need to be in school by 7:35 (doors open at 7:20)  We start class promptly at 7:45. Make sure your child gets a good night's rest and comes to school with a fully charged Chromebook. Thank you for all you do to support your children and their teachers! Voigt has the best parents!
