Elsa England's Birthday Policy:
While we do not allow birthday parties at school, students are allowed to bring a birthday snack or treat to share with the class.
Great choices for birthday food treats include:
Cookies
Donuts
Healthier options like fruit or popcorn
Less desirable treats for school include messy cupcakes, icecream, or anything that will take a long time to serve and eat. Parents must also send paper goods (napkins, etc.) if needed. Another option is for the birthday student is to bring in a "goodie" bag for each classmate instead of a treat for the class.
Each teacher will determine the appropriate time of day for birthday treats to be shared.
We respectfully remind parents to not bring flowers, balloons, or decorations to school.
Students may pass out birthday party invitations at school if all students (or all boys or all girls) in the class are invited.
Many of our students have food allergies or restrictions, so we do ask that parents give teachers advance notice, if they intend to bring food items to be shared with the class.
We hope that by publishing these guidelines, we will be able to successfully meet the needs of the teachers to minimize classroom interruptions, while also allowing time for students to have fun and share with friends.
Participation in birthday treats, either sending or receiving, is totally optional and at the parent’s discretion. If you do not want your child to participate in any birthday acknowledgements with the class, please let your child’s teacher know your preference.
