About the Teachers

Ms. Bae

Hi! My name is Amy Bae and I am very excited for this upcoming school year.  This will be my 6th year at Elsa England.

I was born in Gainesville, Florida but I've lived in Austin long enough to call this city my home.  I am a proud alumni of UT Austin (Hook'em Horns!)  where I studied Elementary Education and Economics.

As a teacher, I promise to be fair to each of my student and I will do my very best to create a safe, nurturing and respectful classroom where students grow academically, socially,  and emotionally.

During my free time, I enjoy reading books, travelling, cooking, baking and working out.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at amy_bae@roundrockisd.org .

Mrs. Washburn

My name is Megan Washburn and I'm so excited for this school year! This will be my 6th year at England (My name used to be Ms. Boldt!). I'm a graduate of the University of Texas where I completed my degree in elementary education. I  was lucky enough to complete my student teaching in 3rd grade at Elsa England, and then join the amazing third grade team here.

I was born and raised in Austin, and always knew that I wanted to be teacher. Besides teaching, I love being creative in any way, and especially any type of crafting. From sewing to power tools and everything in between, I love doing anything hands on. I enjoy hiking, being outside, and exercising. My husband and I have two golden retrievers who love to go for walks and play fetch. I enjoy spending time with my family, and being an aunt to my three nephews.

I am from the Houston area, but came to Austin to play volleyball at St. Edward's University. I got my undergraduate degree in elementary education there and then went to Texas State for my masters. I am now back in school pursuing a School Librarian Certification at UT (Hook 'em!).

Since being in Austin, I married my high school sweetheart and adopted the cutest fur babies. I have a 3-legged cat named Pickle and a chocolate Lab named Peanut. When I'm not playing with them, I love to read, play board games, play volleyball, hike and spend time with friends and family.

I can't wait to have a wonderful year together. To contact me, please email me at Julia_Hendricks@roundrockisd.org

Mrs. Swyers

Welcome to 3rd grade! I am excited to begin a new year! I have been a 3rd grade teacher at Elsa England since we first opened our doors.  Prior to that I taught kinder, first, and third grade in Virginia after graduating from James Madison University. This is my 14th year teaching 3rd grade in RRISD. I am amazed that each year is just as exciting and rewarding as the last.

I am originally from Texas, but lived in Virginia for many years. My husband and I moved to Austin in 2001. We have three children: Carter, Trent, and Kelly. Trent is a junior at Texas State University, Kelly is beginning her college journey as a student and volleyball player at St. Mary's University, and Carter is working and taking computer classes.

In my spare time I enjoy watching Netflix, walking, hiking, reading, photography, playing games, and going on family outings. I love animals, especially dogs, and spend lots of time playing & walking with our dog Shadow.

Teaching has always been my passion. I love engaging the minds of our youth and fostering a love of learning. My mission is to ignite a passion for reading and writing, empower learners to solve problems and think critically, and foster innovation, creativitivity, and discovery.

I am looking forward to beginning an adventurous journey with a new group of Leopards and partnering with families to make this a remarkable year!

If your child is in my class, I will send updates via email on a regular basis. The best way to reach me is via email at Deborah_Swyers@roundrockisd.org.

Ms. Tatum

Hi and Welcome! I am so excited to start another year teaching in RRISD. This will be my fifth year teaching and my 4th year in 3rd grade and at England! I graduated from TXST with my bachelor's degree in 2019 and graduated from there again with my Masters in 2020. Eat 'em up!

I am from Houston, TX (Go Stros!) originally but have loved living in Round Rock these past few years. Since moving here I have added Ekko, my rescue pup, and Kota, his little brother, to the family and they are so special! Along with being at the dog park and setting up doggy playdates, in my free time I love to read, be outdoors, and spend time with my friends. I'm still exploring Austin and love to explore the country as well, with visiting national parks being my #1 bucket list item.

I love being a teacher and can't wait for yet another group of kids to steal my heart! Each year is an opportunity for me to learn and grow in my teaching and I feel as though I learn just as much from each student as they learn from me. I can't wait to get started!
