Water Walk

WATER WALK

We have some fun activities planned during the week to celebrate our Well Aware service project including a WATER WALK through the PE and Dance classes on March 26/March 27.

All P.E. students will be walking laps with filled and sealed water jugs. Students will experience what it is like to have to walk for your household’s clean water, like some students in East Africa have to do. This action will result in service in April as we celebrate Earth Day with a shower strike to conserve water and raise funds for a small community in Mbalalwala, Tanzania that needs their water well fixed. The local nonprofit, Well Aware, will be here to facilitate the walks and talk about their experience putting in clean water wells in Tanzania and the changes it makes in students’ lives.

These actual students (above) in Mbalawala were our inspiration for the walk!

Here our friend Theo (who volunteers with Well Aware) talks about walking for water in Tanzania as a child before our Water Walks.
