Elementary music teachers design lessons which build basic music skills, enabling children to blossom as musicians and develop a lifelong appreciation of music. As a child's motor and cognitive skills develop, the music curriculum spirals, building upon previously learned concepts like beat and melodic contour, to more complex rhythmic and melodic concepts. This is accomplished through the use of folk-songs and games, designed to highlight particular musical elements.
