Kindergarten music class is all about experiencing music and learning to create it through our bodies as well as voices. During a typical class period we sing (all the time!), do rhymes, move our bodies to the beat, as well as pretend, dance and experience instruments!

Ask your child about their last trip to "Musicland!"

A major area of focus in Kindergarten is musical opposites:

  • fast/slow

  • steady beat/no beat

  • high/low

  • loud/soft

Use of different voice types (speaking, whispering, calling, singing, and "inner voice") is a focus as well. We also work on keeping a steady beat throughout the year in many ways: kinesthetically, tactically, and through playing instruments.
