My Family

Dear Parents,

I am so excited to begin this school year with you and your family! Fourth grade is a great year and I can’t wait to watch your child grow. I love to challenge my students academically, pushing them to take risks and make mistakes, so they may achieve more than they thought they could accomplish. I also believe in the value of social and emotional intelligence and interweave topics of empathy, teamwork, and collaboration into daily instruction. On top of all this, it is my job to create a safe and nurturing environment where they can be successful.

This will be my 20th year of teaching, with 18 of those years at LME. This will be my seventh year as a fourth grade teacher, but I have taught third grade, Special Education, and held the role of Interventionist at LME. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in special education from the University of Texas. I have been married to my husband, Moises, for 19 years and have a daughter, Gabrielle who is 7, and a son, Dayne who is 4. During my spare time, I love to compete in sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons and du-athlons. I also love to read, build furniture/projects with my table saw, and “home-improve” our house.

I sometimes forget that I get paid to do what I do every day because I love my students and the process of learning. I enjoy providing a warm, caring environment where I can build life-long learners who are curious and engaged in their own learning. My true passion is getting to know each child, their interests and strengths, and then using that knowledge to guide their learning. I love watching the students discover, learn, and make progress using their newly developed skills. As a parent, I know the importance of having a caring and nurturing teacher, and as a teacher, I appreciate the support of parents.

Please feel free to call me at school if you have any questions or concerns. You are also welcome to set up an appointment for a one-on-one conference during my planning time, which is from 11:55-12:45. My phone number is 464-4322.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jessica Trejo
