Important information regarding Decimals :
- Fifth grade deals with numbers to the thousandths place
- When adding and subtracting decimals, line decimals up, add any zeros as necessary for place holders, and then add or subtract as if it were a whole number. When adding whole numbers with decimals, be sure to line them up properly. Only add/subtract whole numbers with/from whole numbers and decimals with/from decimals paying attention to the place value.
- For perimeter, be sure to practice using your STAAR reference chart with its formulas for perimeter of a rectangle and square.
