Middle School 1 Art is designed as a beginner level art class for middle school students. This class is open to all 6th graders and any 7th graders who did not take art in 6th grade. Students will continue from where they left off in elementary school, progressing to the next level of art with more focus, new challenges, and increased opportunities.
Middle School 2 Art is an intermediate level art class for students who have successfully completed MS1. Students will dig deeper into skills and concepts, completing more advanced projects and working with more challenging art media.
Middle School Art 1 for High School Credit is a course designed for 8th graders who wish to receive high school credit. It is the same as Art 1 course offered in high school. Students work at a faster pace and make some really advanced artwork.
MS1 and MS2 artists will be exploring a variety of art media throughout the year. Students will be learning skills and techniques while creating original works of art of their choice.
Semester 1 will focus on primarly 2-dimensional work: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and mixed-media.
Semester 2 will focus on 3-dimensional work: building relief sculpture with mixed-media, sculptures, and ceramics.
