Virtual Open House 2021 Information
This course is about the history of the United States from 1877 to the present. Students will have many opportunities to practice reasoning and communication skills through activities such as primary source analysis, simulations, discussion, and debate.
What is the work like in this class?
We will move QUICKLY through the timeline of history. We will go over many concepts during each class period. If you must miss a class, please make sure to make up your work as soon as possible.
Asynchronous Activities/Homework:
Asynchronous activities are taken for grades, and are essential for understanding the course concepts. They are part of the school requirements, not "extra activities," and have to be completed by the end of the day they were assigned, just as if we were in a classroom. In the rare event that homework is assigned often it will consist of short reading assignments so that we can go deeper. I will not assign busywork, both out of respect for you and because I don't want to grade it!
Grade breakdown:
30% daily grades, homework - "formative"
30% quizzes or notebook checks
40 % major tests and projects - “summative"
