Our amazing counselor shared this information with our students this year. Here, you will find links, lists and ideas for speaking with your child about self-regulation, positive self-talk, and calming strategies. These are great for anyone, child and adult. Please feel free to utilize this resource and have conversations with your students about their feelings, reactions, happiness, and concerns.
Emotional learning is not a quick or easy lesson. Many adults never master it. But, practice makes better. The more practice young children get, the better they will be able to express their emotions and control their behavior. - Heather Shumaker
As learners, we're using strategies to help us be respectful and responsible students such as focusing attention, self-talk, and being assertive when we need something.
We're really focusing on acts of KINDNESS. :)
Our SEL discussions center around being safe, respectful, and responsible with our words and actions. We understand the reasons behind having rules and manners as well as look for ways to really implement them in everyday life.
We really enjoy Kid President and read alouds such as The Invisible Boy, One, The Bad Seed, The Good Egg, and What If Everybody Did That?
