Hi! My name is Jessica Ory. I am thrilled to being your child’s 3rd grade teacher for this school year! This will be my seventh year at Forest Creek Elementary. I'm so eager to meet your kiddos and to work with them to build our Minion community. I can’t wait to begin! I am blessed to be a part of this journey as we work together to prepare your child for the future. We’ll accomplish our goals with hard work, teamwork, family communication, and optimism.
My background:
I grew up in Fredericksburg, Texas. There I attended Heritage School for education. I am the oldest of five kids, all of whom have “J” names. What fun! My parents instilled in me a great desire to learn, do my best, and strive for my goals in life. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl, and I love coming to my dream job every day.
My family includes my fabulous husband, Taylor, our six year old son, Jason, our two year old, Madison, and our mischievous fur-baby, Dallas. My family is my joy! We wholeheartedly find joy in our faith, friends, family, and community. We love people and are passionate about and feel called to help others make and achieve their dreams while furthering their education. We love reading together, watching movies, hiking and exploring outside, and singing and dancing.
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in K-6 General Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. Go CRU!!! I'm also certified in ESL, TAG, and have taught special education students. I have experience teaching 4th Grade when living in East Texas.
My Mission:
I believe in creating a learning community where students facilitate each others' learning while taking ownership of their own. By building a community of respect, hard work, and positivity, the students can proudly share their thoughts and ideas knowing they'll be heard. I believe every child can learn -- learning at different paces and in different ways stretches and grows the group for everyone's benefit, offering new and varying ways of looking at problem solving and information. I believe in creating life-long learners, who, when faced with challenges, will seek out answers for themselves and share what they discover. We're in this year together and will come out on top. We're one in a minion. :)
