This is an information session about the changes to the Middle School Science TEKS due to streamlining. The session will also review changes to the ARRC for the 2017-18 school year. Teachers will have time to collaborate within their content area.

Scientific Minds Training for Biology Teachers (PART 1)
Teachers will receive initial training on the Scientific Minds Science Starters and how to set up classes.
Scientific Minds is a teacher-built company that provides online teaching tools for science. The Science Starters programs support scientific literacy, vocabulary acquisition, test preparedness, and college readiness. It also includes tools for review, remediation, and English language proficiency. The Science Starters programs can be easily integrated into daily lessons to provide state standards support while providing content support for science labs and activities.

Breakout EDU is an immersive games platform for learners of all ages. Using the Breakout EDU kit, players work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box. Games are available for all ages and content areas.
This session is designed to get you started. You'll have an opportunity to experience a game as well as learn how to access the games library, set up your locks, and facilitate your first Breakout EDU game.

This session will focus on setting up learning stations in classes that are aligned to the standards. The stations will need to be rigorous and can be used as inquiry activities or post instruction activities. It will also focus on how to have the students move through the stations in an organized manner and manage their own learning and time.

Tired of having students come in at the beginning of year saying "math just isn't my thing," or "I failed math in the past, how is this year going to be any different?"
