About Pam Bartholomew
I grew up in Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia and went to Kutztown State University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Early Childhood. Then I attended Arizona State University to earn my Master's Degree in Elementary Education and Reading.
I began teaching in New Jersey and taught kindergarten. I taught kindergarten and second grade in Arizona while getting my Master's Degree. Then we moved to Texas. My husband got hired as a professor at The University of Texas at Austin and is now the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the college of Education at UT. When we first moved here, I had a new baby and I worked doing home day care. In 2000, I got my certification in Special Education and began teaching at Double File Trail in RRISD. The next year, I started teaching at Forest Creek and have been here ever since.
At Forest Creek, I taught special education (resource, inclusion, co-teaching) for 6 years, 4th grade for 11 years, and Intervention (academic, behavior, and Dyslexia intervention) for 5 years. In 2004, I was selected Teacher of the Year for our school which was a huge honor as a special education teacher. In 2012, I was again selected Teacher of the Year at Forest Creek Elementary as well as the 2013 Elementary Teacher of the Year for RRISD. I was so overwhelmed and excited about representing the wonderful teachers of our district and bringing positive recognition for the amazing activities that are going on at our school by all of our dedicated and hard-working teachers and staff. This year will be my 24th year in Round Rock ISD and my 31st year teaching in public schools. I will be focusing on behavior intervention, social skills groups, and mindfulness lessons this year and I am very excited. Last year, we created our Mindfulness Room and I taught 185 Mindfulness Lessons to classes K-5. I am looking forward to another wonderful year at FCE!
I live in Round Rock with my husband and our dog, Rosie. My daughter Blair has her Master's Degree in Special Education and is a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). She lives in Plano and works at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders. My daughter, Emma, is a junior at The University of Texas at Austin and is studying Economics with a Business Minor.
We are going to have an amazing year growing and learning together in our mindfulness practice!
