March 2018: Art and Media Communications students are creating blogs and had a guest speaker via "Google Hangout". Maureen Carruthers is a "Happiness Engineer" at Word Press. The students really enjoyed speaking with her and getting to learn about a really innovative job that incorporates the arts, technology, and communications.

March 2018: MS Art I and MS Art II students are doing a collaborative art project. Photographs include our state bird, flower, and capitol building, as well as other landmarks in central Texas to connect to their learning in Texas History class.

December 2017 - Art and Media Communication students are creating "Mola Self-portraits" inspired by the layers in South American Molas. The layers represent the different aspects of their personality. The designs were created digitally, and then printed out. Finally, students put together their artwork by cutting through each layer to show another part of who they are, like the layers of an onion.

October 2017 - Artist Choice Projects - Thumbnail sketches/planning notes, after the final draft, they will finish their artist statements

Dr. Flores is AMAZING!! Art and Media students took this photo of him when he was visiting our school, and then he rewarded them with a pizza party!! Too cool!!

September/October 2017: MS Art I/II - Mixed Media Still Life

September 2017 - MS Art I/II students are using their geometric and organic prints in many ways: sketchbook covers, mats for artwork, and finally, they will become the background for a mixed media still life.

September 2017 - MS Art I/II students are learning about composition and photography with the iPads. Photos will be used for future mixed media still life. Very cool!!

September 2017 - Art and Media Communication students went on a "scavenger hunt" around the school to take photographs of the elements of art. They will put these images together in a Google Slides presentation for the class.

August 2017

We are embracing technology this year in the art room!! We are using the iPads in a variety of ways for art instruction: Google classroom; Kahoot quizzes; and photo editing in PhotoBooth, PicsArt, and MuseMage. So much fun!!
