John Manning, Principal

Manning has served as the assistant principal of Pearson Ranch Middle School since 2017. During that time, he led the creation of Pearson Ranch’s Equity Task Force to advance learning, reflection, and creating an accepting environment to directly address equity for students and staff on the campus. He also worked with the campus team to guide the successful implementation of restorative practices, which led to a 27 percent decrease in disciplinary incidents over two years. He also led the launch of Propel Summer Learning for the McNeil Learning Community to provide enrichment opportunities for students in Project Based Learning, literacy, and accelerated math. He has a total of 17 years of experience in education, with 14 of those as a classroom teacher. Three of those years as a classroom teacher included serving as the Math Department Chair at Westwood High School.“I am deeply honored to be joining the Deerpark Middle School community,” Manning said. “I’m excited and eager to partner with students, staff, parents, and the community to support all of our students’ on their journeys to becoming lifelong learners who will positively impact our society.”Manning earned his Master’s in Management and Administrative Sciences from University of Texas at Dallas and his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University of the Ozarks.

James Evans - 7th Grade assistant principal

Mr. James Evans was born and raised on the “southside” of Chicago, Illinois. He and his wife of over 25 years moved to Texas with their children in 2014. He earned his bachelors of arts in Christian Ministries and Organizational Leadership from Trinity International University. He earned a Master of Arts in Secondary Teacher Education from the University of Phoenix. Being an educator has afforded Mr. Evans the opportunity to develop relationships and provide equitable opportunities of discovery to students. He believes students aspire to what they are exposed to. Mr. Evans has served as a campus Afterschool Targeted Intervention Director, a member of the District Advisory Council, Campus Advisory Council, PLC Team Leader, assistant testing coordinator, assistant principal intern and is a 2021 RRock Star University Leadership Training Program graduate. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports video games, listening to music and spending time with family.

Hello Deerpark community, my name is James Evans. I am excited to be joining the administrative team as the seventh grade assistant principal here at Deerpark. The 2021 school year marked my 12th year as an educator and my third year as a Deerpark Ranger. My time in this community and being a part of its rich culture has been great! I look forward to continuing our journey together. I am humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve you and your family in my new role.

Jolie Moulton - 8th Grade, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Moulton attended Texas A&M earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and became a certified English teacher through the Texas A&M certification program. With over 24 years in public education, Ms. Moulton began teaching in RRISD 15 years ago at Deerpark Middle School. She was part of the Deerpark faculty that was transferred to help open Walsh MS in 2008. Ms. Moulton has been an English teacher, TAG and Special Education teacher, middle school cheer coach, English department head and team lead. She was also an appraiser and mentor teacher for both the UTeach Math and Science and English certification programs for over 13 years. She moved to the Walsh MS administration team after receiving her Masters in Educational Leadership in 2018 from Concordia University Texas. Ms. Moulton is part of RRISD’s Team One Cohort this year for aspiring principals. In her spare time she reads, lifts weights, and enjoys time with friends and family. Equity for all stakeholders in an educational community is something Ms. Moulton weaves through all of her decision making knowing that we need to feel we belong and are accepted in our community, no matter how similar or different we are to each other.
