Read Each Night for 20 minutes!
Guided Reading Books - Starts in November
You will be using this reading log to keep track of number of books each student has read. This is an easy way to ensure your child has read 15 minutes a day.
Here’s how it works:
1. A “Nightly Reading Log” will be placed in your child’s folder. You may keep this in your child’s folder at all times.
2. When your child receives a reading group book they will read the book to you. In addition to reading group homework, any other stories read at home (by you or your child) will count as well.
3. After each book is read, your child will star, stamp, sticker or color in a numbered square for each book read. If a child reads the same book two times, they may count it as two books read.
4. When your child reaches 100 books, the Nightly Reading Log will be collected and a new one will be sent home.
5. The nightly reading log is an easy and fun way to ensure that your child is growing as a reader. In the spring, children who have reached 400 books will be invited to a special Reading Superstar Party.
With this no-fuss homework, we hope to instill in the children a love for reading while also increasing their language skills and beginning them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. Thank you for your help and support at home!
