These goals are based on the pre-evaluation report on the top left which were evaluated based on the School Library Programs: Standards and Guidelines for Texas (Revised August 2017).
Weed 800 and 900 sections (at least 40 books)
Inventory collection, delete and clean up OPALS records
Continue adding to the collection since we are under goal
Due to the amount of work this goal entails, a proposed ten-year timeline will be used to reach the final goal. Each year the librarian will weed at least 531 books or more and acquire at least 1,022 to be able to reach the goal in ten years.
With the large goals set in place with weeding the collection and adding books to decrease the overall average age of the collection, this will take many years to achieve. According to the standards, the ultimate goal for a distinguished library would be less than 11 TitleWise analysis with my representative, Harvey Smith. The program generated a TitleMap to show how the library can move through the standards from proficient, accomplished, and distinguished. To reach the goal of the average age of the collection being less than 11 years, the librarian will need to weed approximately 5,308 books and purchase 10,225 books.
750 -- there is only ONE book on painting
760 -- none on print making
770 -- only THREE on photography
According to the Library Standards, Standard 3.1 states that an exemplary collection will be less than an average of 11 years. Currently, the collection has an average age of 17 years. This means, that we will need to do some weeding and adding great, current reads!
