The STEAMakers lab has created some great opportunities for students to explore real world problems, make a plan, and solve that problem. Students can use and pursue knowledge, but not as much create or share in the library environement due to time limitations. Professional development opportunities are provided asynchronously.
I integrate technology in PLC and some library lessons with higher grades. Hour of Code is used throughout the year and I collaborate and work closesly with our campus ITS.
I created a 10 year collection development plan this past summer. Click the link to check it out. I also won a grant for a STEM lab, and I've been having classes come, but I would love for individual students to enjoy it or even incorporate STEM nights for families to come and enjoy after hours.
I would love for teachers to include me more on the research and project process in their classrooms. I would love to teach about resources, copyright, research process and help students with their individual projects. I would love to have a "study hall" time during the school day or before or after school where students could come to the library to get one-on-one help or small group help with their assignments and projects.
Collaborate more with teachers to create PBL opportunities to create and share their knowledge.
Collaborating more with outside organizations, institutes and libraries.
I would love to have some library nights for families or mornings where parents can come do fun things like: Board Game Night, Read Alouds, Movies, Coding, STEAM, etc.
Have at least one meeting to discuss the digital resources available and ask staff for feedback on what is missing and how i can support students in their class with resources, research, inquiry, projects. Also, I could do some Lunch and Learn opportunities, but I know taking away teachers' only break during the day is not fun.
I am working on getting library open for activities each morning 7:30-8:00 with admin permission
